3D SCANNING/3D DIGITIZATION

WHAT IS 3D SCANNING?

The service : The device quickly generates without contact a 3D photo of the part with precise measurements. This service is useful when the dimensions of the part are difficult to take with a traditional measuring device (gallon to measure).

We can scan/digitize :

Mechanical parts
When a part is no longer produced or BO or comes from Europe (long lead time and expensive to transport)
Parts from the field of heavy mechanical industry and plastic parts from manufacturers for BRP

General conditions : Your part must be able to reflect the light from the lasers of our devices, we must also turn it upside down to allow us to scan the exterior and interior. If your part is made of transparent plastic (windshield, glass, stainless steel, etc.) this is not ideal because it generates noise but with your agreement, we can “powder” the part with a developer-type whitening agent to carry out the service.

Please note that if your part is small, it can be shipped to our office and if your part is large and/or difficult to move, our team travels throughout Quebec and beyond, at an expense.

Deadlines for carrying out the service : A few days notice depending on our availability.

WE SCAN PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING!

From parts that can be contained within a volume as small as 1000 cubic centimeters (1 liter) to complete scans of equipments as large as a tractor or even a military vehicle. Check out some examples of parts we can scan.

ELEVATOR MOTOR (KONE)

We were mandated by TM Demers to partially reverse engineer a KONE elevator motor, installed at the CHUM. Our customer had to use our scan to design, manufacture and install the engine guards according to current safety standards. The goal was actually to improve the installation and safety of a product in operation!

VW 2.5L 5-CYLINDER ENGINE (07K.)

Black Haze Workshop commissioned us to reverse engineer a VW 2.5L 5-cylinder engine named 07K. Our client, who aims to develop performance parts, chose this affordable and very strong engine as a base to work from. In particular, he wants to adapt a turbo, which will require the design of an exhaust manifold. This is where the power of our 3D scanning comes into its own! By scanning all the surfaces of the engine, we were able to deliver the 3D rendering to Black Haze Workshop to allow them to design and manufacture the desired parts.

FLUTED SHAFT

Recently, we have been working on a great example of what we can offer as a COMPLETE reverse engineering service: 1. 3D Scan 2. Reconstruction 3. Realization of the 3D. This time, it was a fluted shaft that passed under the sharp eye of our scan, at the request of our client, RIDD.
