GEARBOX HOUSING OF A GOLF VR6
3D PreciScan was commissioned by Ben Custom Fabric, under the recommendation of PEP FAB, to scan a gearbox housing of a Golf VR6. The request was to reverse engineer the complete crankcase.
However, after a discussion with the customer, we understood that only the scan of the machined areas would be necessary. We therefore provided him with the scan of the relevant parts only in order to save time and money!

The final result delivered by 3D PreciScan is the superposition of the scan and the machined surfaces, precisely located in space:
From this scan, our customer was able to design a reinforced aluminum casing, then machined by PEP FAB. The original design was not able to transfer power from the engine to the engine. Thanks to the 3D scanning, the customer was able to develop a better crankcase to increase their chances of winning the 400- meter standing start competition in the United States in the fall of 2019.
